In recent months, the video game PolyTrack has taken the school by storm. In PolyTrack, the player tries to finish the race as quickly as possible, making use of drifts, acceleration, and smooth driving to save time. From students to teachers like David Steinberg, the low-poly racing game has spread throughout Heschel’s halls. However, PolyTrack’s new “Winter and Desert” update has completely changed the game.
The update introduced two new biomes, which are reskinned versions of the original game, and revamped the game’s buggy physics. Controversially, the update also deleted all pre-update track records.
“It’s horrible,” said freshman Gabriel Farbiarz about the update. “It ruined a perfectly good game. It deleted my immaculate records.”
Others disagree: “It’s great. It just should have been released earlier,” said junior Eli Girtz.
“I love the expansion of tracks,” said junior Jack Steinberg. “If they had released this update in PolyTrack’s prime there is no telling how great the game could have been.”
“I still like the game,” said junior Yair Cohen. “I don’t really play so seriously so no matter what it is I will play at school and that’s kind of it. It feels like the update has made people upset for no reason. It’s still PolyTrack.”
For those who have not yet checked, the new update has fixed many of PolyTrack’s old flaws. Players can now reset from checkpoints and the car will no longer fly off the track if you touch a wall. Despite the loss of players’ records, the “Winter and Desert” update has made PolyTrack a more polished game.
