With a 14-2 blowout over Central and a 6-3 victory against Ramaz, the Girls Varsity Indoor Soccer Team clinched a fifth-seed spot in the playoffs. The team has made remarkable progress since their first season last spring, where they made it to the playoffs as eighth-seed, but were knocked out in the first round by SAR in a devastating loss.
Junior Noa Glezer, who played on the co-ed soccer team before Heschel offered a soccer program for only girls, spoke about her experience being on the team. “I could not be more proud of where we are,” said Glezer. “We went from fighting for a girls team while tagging onto the boys’ practices to the championship’s fifth-seed in just two years. I couldn’t have asked for a better team to make this Heschel history with.”
Senior Ariella Kaplan, the team’s goalkeeper, shares Glezer’s excitement about the team’s success. She said, “Seeing how much this group pushed for a second team, an outdoor one during fall, showed how much these girls care about the sport and this team.”
Unfortunately the team lost in the first round of the playoffs, on May 16th, against the Kushner Cobras. But they are ready to come back for their outdoor fall season. Go Heat!
